male more agressive on mating season ?

Leiopython Apr 27, 2006 03:12 PM

Hi guys,

I will finally receive a male Ambon Retic of 5 feet on Friday and I just have a couple of question for you.

First of all, I just want to know if it’s true that the males retic can become aggressive, when they are in the mating season and how long they stay in this behaviour.

I’m pretty sure that some of you own a Ambon retic so if you can tell me how big they are and put pictures of them here it will be really appreciated.

I can’t wait to open the box and see is cute little face.

Thanks

Mathieu

Good question.

I have a male adult Jampea retic and he was more active and resistant to touch (throwing a coil to push my hand away) at the end of last summer and into fall (at that time he had reached sexual maturity). He also went off feed then. I did not own any female retics or other male retics then, so he was not smelling any.

My Jamp has never struck in aggression (just in feeding response) but he was really cruising the cage for those few months.

He did not exhibit that behavior in the previous summer/fall.

Bill
