Aggressive Pacman?

JohnnyBS Apr 27, 2006 07:10 PM

Hi,

Here is my question: Is it normal that my Pacman frog (probably a female, a little over 3 inches long) is kindof... aggressive? Examples: today, i had fed her a pinky rat and, later, as i was picking something up on the ground close to her tank, she threw her tongue at the glass wall, i wasnt even that close, maybe 2-3 feet. Then the tongue didnt immediatly come off and to me it felt kinda painful pulling it back but, oh well, im not a frog. I also have to be very careful when doing anything in her tank, always come from behind. There also is a plastic plant inside, giving some shade, but if i have the bad luck of letting it tip over, my frog just jumps at it immediatly, it just cant be good for her, frogs dont use chew toys...

I dont think that shes starving, I give her a pinky rat at least once every week and often 3-4 feeding worms every 2-3 days.

Thanks for answering, just wondering if theres something im doing wrong for her behavior education or her feeding.

Jean

that is just their nature, they sit in waiting and when they see some movement or a contrasting shadow its just instincts to lunge after it, so he saw you move and saw an opportunity for food, my pyxie from once tried to eat my girlfriend friend, the cats the ferret, my foot, even though the pyxie is really big it wouldnt have a chance of even part way consuming any of those, in my personal opinion it is just instincts, i would throw some crickets in there and just let him/her have a fun night of ambushing

Hi,

Thanks, i'm kindof reasured. Why I asked is beacause when she was a little younger she was more easily scared and impressed. Of course, shes grown up no so she thinks shes stronger than everyone.

Good suggestion, im gonna keep her busy with crickets more, those feeder worms are scary to feed her because she always miss-shoots and eats dirt, or if i thong-feed her it scares the hell outa me when she suddently jumps at it.

Thanks, bye

Jean
