first babies of 2006

jimfmcdonald Apr 27, 2006 09:41 PM

These are my first babies of 2006 but not the first eggs laid.
I have some tri-color hognose eggs that were laid a few days before the westernhognose eggs and I know that my tri-hog eggs take a bit longer to hatch (about 70 days or so) and my westernhognose eggs usually take about 60 to 65 days (all incubated at 80 to 82) but these hatched at only day 50. and they look nice and healthy. any of you have them hatch this soon? thanks.

When did you take them out of brumation? i woke mine up the last week of February, and they're just now mating!

At any rate, congrats on the first litter!

It started getting hot here a bit sooner then I wanted so I took them out in January. 12 clutches already, and a few have already laid their 2nd clutch! its going to get really busy around here real soon!
THANKS.

I have had them hatch out at 45 days. 50 days is more common for me, give or take a day or two. I use hovabators for my colubrid eggs. I set them up a week ahead of time and keep adjusting them for 83 degrees.
Congrats on the first clutch and a great season.
