Just put this male in with her about a hour ago and now she is on her back! Im not sure if she was doing this to keep the male from having his way or for the heat under the tank for food digestion or egg incubating. anyone? anyone?
thanks.

I had an Eastern female do this when a male (or female for that matter) was introduced to her environment. The only time I ever saw her do the whole defensive thing was with other snakes. She just did not want to be messed with, and let them know it.
