I'm considering building some new enclosures this summer and was wondering how much ventilation you generally give your pythons in homemade enclosures. They will likely both by 4' long by 2' long by 2' tall. I'm thinking putting some screen on each of the 2'x 2' sides, about 1' long by 4-5" tall. The sides will all most likely by plywood with reinforced corners, stained and coated with a protectant of some sort, likely polyurethane, then left to air out for awhile (1-2 weeks after the last coating perhaps?)
One for a female macklot's python (Liasis mackloti), currently about 4 feet in length, expected to double in size, the other for a pair of spotted pythons (Antaresia maculosus) once the male grows up a but (yes I understand the possible issues with 2 snakes in the same enclosure, they will be separated for feeding time, will have multiple hides and warm and cool spots).
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
