Ok so my snake is getting ready to shed (cloudy eyes, dull coloring, etc etc.) and I was checking on him earlier today, and cleaning/refilling his water dish, and he gets a tad cranky before he sheds and what not, and when he started acting like a grump i slowly took my hand out. and he like...sneezed or something...or coughed...and i don't know what that means! can someone help!?

well if its getting ready to shed then the shedding skin is blocking the nostrils. a lot of times you will have a snake that sneezes at this time in their cycle. wait until she sheds and if at that point she is still sneezing take her to the vet for some baytril and a fecal.
hope this helps

It may not have been a cough or sneeze at all. I have had pre-shed snakes (mostly younger snakes)hiss a little when I startled them.

Give it some time. If the problem persists after the shed, it may be time to visit the vet.
