free range setup-Hooloovoo

veiledbrian Apr 28, 2006 11:19 AM

I just had my sister in law and her husband move out of my house. I've now got a spare bedroom again. I decided to move all my chams up stairs. I cleaned out all of my cages before moving them up there. When I clean my cages i usually let my chams hang out somewhere in the house, I happened to put Hooloovoo on my fake ficus. He seemed to really like it so I decided to use it for a free range setup. Nothing fancy just kinda wanted to give it a try and see how it worked. He hasn't tried to climb down the tree yet but I still will need to find something to block off the floor. He has been eating well from his hanging cup. I even got him to drink straight from the tip of my 'big dripper'.

Just a tip, if you take a reptivine, and coil it around the tree trunk, you can make it sort of, spiral, around the tree and reinforce some of the ficus braches.

Looks great.

i had wanted to do something like that when i first set it up but was unsure on how to do so with out the plant falling over. I have added one large exo terra jungle vine to it, looks good. I also just 'installed' a dripper over head. It drips down onto a couple of branches and then into a bucket.

I free range our vieled and simply use fallen branches from our many trees and stick all the way down in the large pot. Of course all is cleaned and we don't use any pesticides. I can use branches that allow more horizontal perching areas and also to lead to another tree home. I use the bendy braches as more of a support between the real branches and the tree. I've rigged up the dripper and food cup from them also.
