I need help!!

evercraig190 Apr 28, 2006 11:54 AM

I bought a 7-8' female bci. I bought it to breed with my hypo at the end of this year. Anyways, to get to the point, she is not nice. Not nice at all!..When I took her out of her cage, and was going to pick her up, she tried to strike at my face. (shortly after,I had to go check my pants)...come to find out she also struck and made contact with my roommates arm. Is there any way that i/we can "tame" her?..I plan on wearing a paintball mask next time i take her out and possibly some gloves, but is there anything else I can do to make her nice...thanks for the help..i really appreciate it...

Good luck not easy when they are b*tcy at that size. Make it evidently clear that you're not food and your not feeding. For my meaner girls I tap them on the nose with something before I go for to pick them up. Handle her often and hope for the best.

Whatever you do don't be reluctant that hoover around her when you're going into the cage. Just get in and pick her up. Don't even give her the chance to nail you.

Good luck my friend.

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to feed her tonight and I'll wait a couple of days to handle her...
