Veiled Problem

Makuta11 Apr 28, 2006 02:57 PM

I have a baby veild that i have had for about 3 months. Everything was going great but a week ago he stopped eating. He also won't open his eyes and is not very active. He still moves around and and drinks every once in a while (less than before). I don't know what I am doing wrong. I had him on a good diet, proper caging, and water supply. Please help.

And,

Once you've read through that link, see if anything you are doing is different or has changed from when you first got him. There is obviously something wrong, so we need to figure out if it is husbandry that needs correcting (most likely), or if it is an actual disease that can't be corrected by husbandry and needs a vet's help.

Ok. I have all of the proper UVB lighting. The basking spot is usually 90 degrees. the cool side is around 80. He has plenty of non-toxic plants to climb on(Ficus). He is about 6 months old and was eating and drinking normally until now. I have him in a 60 gallon reptarium(he is still little). I hope this provides you with more info.

what are you feeding him? how are they gutloaded and what is your supplement schedule and what brands? What is the humidity? How do you offer him water (mister, dripper, humidifier, etc.)? Does it cool off sufficiently at night (10-20 degree drop). What light schedule do you have him on? How are his colors?

It is Friday, so have a vet lined up just in case. We can't diagnose just help the best we can. Not opening his eyes is obviously not a good thing. Can you hear him wheezing when he breathes or see anything that might indicate a URI (upper respiratory tract infection)? Do you see any crust around his eyes? Does he EVER open them? Have you had a fecal done to rule out parasites? The more info you can give us the better our collective knowledge can help troubleshoot.
