I am just wondering what are some favorite rattlesnakes and why (temperment, hardiness, size, colors, price, etc.). Also, how do they compare between WC and CB?

Well I have only kept a few species of rattlers. My favorite is the Black-tailed. It is very beautiful and rather laid back. It is medium sized and stocky. Then come Canebrakes. The real pink ones are unbelievably beautiful. They are a bit bigger and generally have a bit more attitude. Eastern Diamondbacks are huge. But they also have a pretty clear cut attractive pattern.
One that really caught my eye was an exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo. They have a walk in naturalistic display of several Yucatan Rattlers (Crotalus durissus tzabcan). The snakes were gorgeous and were set in a display that really took it to the nest level.

Thanks,
Rattlesnakes are my favorite. I appreciate the input from another fan.
I have only kept a few species, but my favorite is the Red Diamond (C. ruber). Very mellow, reluctant to rattle or strike. Beautiful shades of reds and cream.
I have only had wild caught, but have never had any problems with adjustment to captivity. The Northern and Southern Pacifics have always fed well, tho individuals have varied from mellow to downright evil! Good luck. Kerry

Thanks Kerry,
I appreciate the information that wild-caughts are worthwhile specimens.
