Need Help a simple thread about the temperature at the bottom of the cage turns into what could have been a thread from hell had it been posted any week except this week.
Snakes on a plane: the movie – no foolin’ – it’s soon to be released. Someone thought it would be great to combine peoples biggest fears – flying and snakes.
Seriously this thread proved two things – 1. There are still plenty of us are in this hobby for the fun of it and 2. Some of you seriously need to think about getting some professional help.
When your freezer is full but there is no human food in it
When your snakes have their own freezer and you STILL can't find anything for human consumption in the "family" freezer
When you look at a furniture and think I could modify that into a cage for my snake
When things start looking like they could be a new way to defrost rats
When I added up the cost of my collection and it was more than my new truck
When everything's price tag is measured by what morph (or snake/snake item) you could buy instead.
When you cancel your cell phone, internet, tv, and stop using the heater, to afford just one more rack.... just one more het.... just one more shipment of mice
When half your arguments with your S.O. somehow contain "just ONE more, and then Im done, I PROMISE"
When you penny pinch and have a piggy bank for your snake funds instead of your vacation funds
When you work extra hours or turn in your vacation time for a new snake
When your wife asks "did you get another snake" and you say: noooo, umm, it's a loner, yea
When MasterCard suspicious activity division calls to confirm that the $10,000 in charges to: Exotics by Nature, Reptile Exotics, Exotic Pets, Exotic Balls and Exotic Serpents, are in fact legitimate charges and not someone downloading porn on your dime.
When you find yourself studying genetics more than you ever studied for your midterms
When you try to trade your mother-in-law for a snake with someone in Nigeria
When your rodent food bill costs more a month than the food bill for your family an entire month!
When you've used frozen rats as a cold compress
When you refresh the BP classifieds page every 2 minutes just in case something new got posted

When you refuse to fix your car/pay for gas and take the bus everywhere you go in order to protect the reptile funds
When you read this site 10 times a day thinking that there maybe something new up
When you spend a good chunk of your Friday compiling all of the asinine threads and photos of some little internet discussion forum - for the momentary amusement of a handful of total strangers
When your DiGiorno comes in pepperoni and frozen rodent flavor
When you wonder all week if a pic you posted will make the WIR
When you take a semester off in school in order to work for a morph
When you imagine how much you could eat if only YOUR jaw unhinged.
When you sit around trying to figure out how to rearrange the computer room to fit more cages
When you realize that your parents' enthusiasm for your snakes is because they realize that this is the closest they'll come to having grandchildren.
When you bring home some cold sodas from the convenience store and use the heat gun to find the coolest one to drink while the rest go in the refrigerator
Your children are jealous cause all the snakes get to be in your room
Your children look at the hamsters and mice at the pet store and say look mom, they must feed their snakes live
When you look at the kids hamster and think "ahhhh, more snake food."
When your sister in law complains that her daughters hamster bites and you suggest getting a Ball cause it won't bite and you can feed the hamster to it as pay back
When you buy one more just so your 2.7 will equal 10 or three more to make an even dozen!
When you start saying you have 3.1 kids
When you lug your lap top on a Business trip halfway around the world just to make sure you can check in on the BP forums and classifieds from China
When you choose to sit in your hotel room and peruse said forums and classifieds rather than sit by the pool on your one morning off... since it's the only place that has a reliable internet connection
When your coworkers threaten to have an intervention
When you happily tell everyone that your daughter is gravid.
When you realize that the time spent preparing your snakes' meals once a week is more than the total of the time spent preparing your own meals all week.
When you sit here hungry because you need to go get something to eat but are busy thawing and warming rats for your snakes.
When most of the protein in your freezer is rat.
When your snakes' cages are cleaner, and cleaned more often, than your own room
When you see a gorgeous lady walking down the street and wonder whether she'd be okay with your snakes
When you see any empty space in your home and think "I could so fit another cage there.
When you resort to eating PBJ every day because you spent all of your money from your paycheck at Rodentpro.com
When you cant believe a thread on the het pied marker trait hasn’t been posted in two weeks
When the in-laws come to visit and have to sleep in the living room because one spare bedroom is full of snake racks and the other spare bedroom is full of rat racks
When your place smells like rats because you have too many snakes to feed
When you pick up a bird that has just killed itself at your window and put it in your freezer
When your rodent keeping friends count their pets before you leave
When whole family has bones and meat left-overs frozen for your rats
When you buy three kinds of dog food - one for your dog, one for your feeder rats and one for your feeder mice. Because their needs are different.
When you don't know exactly how many snakes you have
You spend too much time arguing about possible possible hets
When your home page on your internet browser is set to the KS Forum site
When most of the memory on your hard drive is filled up with pics of snakes
When the highest valued items you have to leave to your kids in your Will are high end ball pythons, and rodent racks
When you volunteer to clean someone's tanks for free just so you can drool over all the cool morphs he has
Your parents won't stay in your home when they visit, instead they rent a room
You go out on garbage day you try and see if the beat up furniture left on the curb can be converted into a nice snake rack/lizard cage then drive off in a huff cause there is no way you can carry an oak 5' long 3' high, 2' deep dresser all the way up to your apartment (assuming you can get it into your little Honda to start with) and it's too late to call a friend to help.
When you buy a truck specifically for the aforesaid dresser
When YOU look at other people and think THEY are weird for not liking snakes
When someone says man he has balls...and you assume they mean snakes
You use the terms balls and rack daily and they have no sexual (or billiards) connection
When your boss asks you every other day "how are the snakes doing" but never how your kids are doing
When you take 100's of photos just to get that special shot
Then spend 30 to 40 minutes uploading to ks just to share
When you see a child fall out of a shopping cart and reply “bad husbandry”
When in your professional life you are still referred to as the snake guy/girl
When you except a high end morph instead of an engagement ring and then borrow from the wedding fund for a matching set of morphs.
When your house no longer has that dog smell cause it’s overpowered by the snake smell and you don’t notice.
When the delivery guy knows you by name and carries the packages to the door at arms length.
