Viability of eggs after being shipped

SPJ01 Apr 30, 2006 10:45 AM

What would the chances be of having viable leopard gecko eggs arrive if they were shipped to you.
Say I buy some leopard gecko eggs from someone after they are laid and they box them up and ship them to me.
Would they survive the trip or die in transport? If they were to survive, would I have deformed hatchlings?

i havent seen this gecko egg add but it is a terrible idea. i have had many geckos shipped to me and every box has been properly marked, however everytime one is delivered to me the carrier walks up to me flipping and throwing the box arround. you can only imagine what happens when they are in the warehouse and what not.

I agree. I was told by a woman at UPS to be careful what I write on the box when I'm shipping reptiles. She said if there is too much stuff on there like "Fragile Handle with Care", the morons in the back interpret it to say "Kick Me!". So I think getting eggs shipped to you is a bad idea. Even if the box is securely packed and handled gently, the eggs are going to roll around and possibly suffocate the embryo.
