Coconut bedding question

Bianca Apr 30, 2006 11:26 AM

Hi
Does anyone use or know of any type of coconut bedding that does not have to be soaked in water for it to expand?

Thats a big waste of time for me as it takes to long to dry and not going to use it moist . I like it but soaking it isnt for me might just switch to something else if cant find type that doesnt need to be soaked.

Thanks

why not just use cypress mulch or w/e its called?
I've never heard of soaking coco bark. i used coco bark once, it was on sale, 3 bags for the price of one. yeah... but heres a type that i think is much similar to the one i used: "T-Rex Coconut Bark. Reptile Substrate"

good luck!

I like shredded coconut better than cyprus mulch.

There is a dry coco fiber that is sold in bags. We tried it and found that it was a bunch dustier than the "soak" kind. We also paid 3 times the price than the "soak" kind.

We went back to the bricks. I just have a plastic trash can that I put the bricks in - and soak them. Once expanded, you can drain off the excess water. The fiber dries out on the top, and that is what gets used first. You could use a storage tub with lid too.

Here is the addy for the dry stuff:
