Cuttlebone (bird thing)

southernpawsc Jul 30, 2003 01:57 PM

Ok, I was told quite a while ago (thanks for all the help I've received) to float cuttlebone and he/she will nibble as needed...........darn thing has been floating for almost a month now. LOL!!!

Now,,,I think I read a few minutes ago to break it up? What are you all doing w/ this thing? I would have thought him swallowing broken pieces might cut the insides like glass or chicken bones would or does it turn to a powder or something?

I have just taken the hard part thats like yellowish sometimes off with a butter knife and the break it into pieces the size of a dime for my hatchlings and if any small pieces break off I just put them in the tank also. They eat it pretty fast, kind of like candy.
