Mojaves are out!

metalpest Apr 30, 2006 04:00 PM

First cruising night of the spring in Lancaster, and the mojaves were out in full force! I think we found 8 or 9 of them in an hour and a half. Also stumbled across two other cruisers in the early evening. Other notable finds were a pair of young kings and a young glossy.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper stored up acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched tv. And then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus stole all his acorns, and he got a race car. Is any of this sinking in?

In front of you? That sucks. So far I'm lucky enough not to have that occur. We have tons of mojaves out here, but traffic is high enough that half the snakes we find have already been hit.
