Just got back from my first South Texas snake hunting trip in 3 years. Hunted Friday night and Saturday night. Friday night only yielded two 3-3 1/2 ft. atrox in close proximity to eachother. They most likely just bred and were on their way. The wind was blowing about 20-25 mph. Skies cleared about 10 pm. conditions were terrible for herps. Saw a few toads after that.
Saturday night,..absolutley nothing. Earlier in the day on the way back from Choke Canyon State Park, I saw a fairly fresh D.O.R. Emoryi Rat. This would be the only snake the rest of the trip. Exactly like people have been saying,....if it does not rain soon and keep raining for a while, we will be lucky to find any snakes at all. I am setting my sites on West Texas now. Will be there the second weekend in May, mainly for business reasons, but will slip in a night of herping.

I guess you can do so well in AZ because you are so close. I just had a buddy come back from last week and scored a big zero. Too cold and dry he said. I guess since you and the Yani Miester wont be coming to Texas, we can be assured to have at least a few more alterna to choose from! The family's good and all say HOWDY!
