African Fat Tails Vs Leopard Geckos

Nighthawk_ Apr 30, 2006 10:50 PM

How are they different besides their geographical locations in the wild, and their phisical coloration? Like genetically, and personality wise.

Our fat-tails are far more laid back than our leos. As for genetics there is a far wider availability of morphs with leos, but some of the amel fat-tails are stunning (as are some of the leos out there don't get me wrong). I find the fatties to be cuter and enjoy their more laid back personalities. But when it comes to making money/the possibilities of cool breeding projects it seems to me leos are the place to go.

2.0 Leos (Spot - Normal but oh, so sexy; Jessie - hypotang)
3.2.4 Fattails (Henri, Suwannee, Valencio, Dixie, Isis, Zipper, Pheonix, Hissy, and Snickerdoodle)
0.0.1 redfoot tortoise (Sherman)
0.0.1 sulcatta tortoise (Tinacious aka Tiny)
1.1 Dogs (Zubin and Brenda)
0.1 cat (Mimi)

Thanks! Can they be housed together? With leos I mean. Just out of currisoty. I'm not big on colonizing.

Canio Apr 30, 2006 11:07 PM

No. They are from different continents and have different humidity requirements. I would not house the two together.

Ok. How do they do grouped? Not with leos, with other fatties?

Canio Apr 30, 2006 11:21 PM

I keep mine seperated for much the same reasons as people keep their leos seperated.

males should be separated just like leos.

Also, as far as husbandry, you should keep the humidity a bit higher for the AFTs, since they come from more humid environments than leos.
