Need some help...

boafanatic7 May 01, 2006 11:27 PM

I have a normal female that is on day 75 since her POS. She is defnitely gravid. she's been on the hot spot of her cage most o fthe time until recently, she's been seeking out the cooler spots and staying away from the hot. I thought maybe i had it too hot...96...belly heat..so I lowered it to 92. She's been moving around alot, but is now back in her cool spot.

Is this normal for a gravid boa, to seek cooler spots when coming up to the end of gestation??

One more thing, i'll be away on days 87-90, should i be worried tha she might prematurely drop??? How often does that happen??

thanks for any advice!!

Your fine, don't over analyze the situation. Keep and eye on her but she's likely thermoregulating. Don't keep the temps to hot. 96 a high. Do offer her a gradient if possible.

As for the going away part. If she is gravid and does drop that early they will be pills or premies so you don't have to worry about viable babies being crushed or being in the cage with the mother while you're away. Good luck with everything. Sometimes the best thing to do with a gravid female is just go do something else, don't kill yourself looking at her 100 times a day. Monitor her but don't drive yourself crazy.

Best of luck my friend.
