Why do people always have to try to bad mouth you in some way?

cheyenness Jul 30, 2003 02:54 PM

The question is why?

Ok, I am a breeder. I have males and females, I have gravid dragons and eggs incubating. I order crix by the thousands and breed my own mealies, I buy Rep cal in 5 pound bags, I hand chop greens every couple days and I buy more veg for my dragons than I do my family........All signs of a breeder right?!?!? lol

Since I don't have dozens and dozens of beardies, from time to time I don't have any available babies, and yet I get emails asking for babies...... so every now and then I find a "lot" reasonable and from someone who I trust and know. Have them here atleast a month to make sure they are healthy, growing and eating, etc. On occassion I buy a dragon, it arrives and is not what I expected it to be, so I keep it here for a time and then list it for sale... usually at the same price I paid for it, sometimes less. No big deal to me. Or so I thought........

Then all of a sudden someone starts passing word around that I am NOT a breeder and that I ONLY buy and resell ALL THE TIME! This would be someone who you have dealt with in the past and has bought several animals from you and you have even given "price breaks" to on occassion.
Someone who is always emailing you and saying how great those babies are doing and saying thanks and I need advice, etc.

So my question today is why? Why do people always feel like they have to slam somebody else to make themselves feel good?

Oh and by the way....... I AM A BREEDER LOL

well I know youre a breeder. your a nice person and you have beautiful beardies. Just like the other day with aron, sometimes people are just jerks. cant help that. It just helps us realize who the nice people are, and youre one of them. Your website is very nice too. It sucks when stuff like this happens. But we all know your a breeder, lol.

peace,
nate

politics are part of the industry, do all you can to build and keep a good name for yourself, make the truth be known when others slander you and i suppose just move on and keep doing your best for your animals.

Yeah, this just hurt since it is the first time anything like this has been said about me (That I have heard about LOL). I have dozens of 100% happy customers and your right, I can't just let 1 person with a sour attitude get me down.
I will always do what is best for my animals.... even my children and husband gets jealous at times

Because it makes them feel less inferior and gives them something to talk about. If they have a problem they should come to you personally. Too, bad people can't just be level in dealing with others. If they don't have the courage to talk to you then the next step is to talk about you. Sorry that happens.
Take care,
Karen

cheyenness,

I would not worry too much about it. In my opinion, you are better off knowing who it is, then not knowing. I have seen you post here and am very glad that you are here. You have always been helpful with information only a breeder would know. Keep up the good work and try not to let it get to you.

PS My post right above this one has nothing to do with cheyenness

I would not worry about it. The side effect of being in the public eye and posting animals for sale is that you open yourself up to all kinds, good and bad.
Besides, there is nothing wrong with brokering. Many people buy from dealers, not breeders. There are good dealers and bad ones, just as there are good breeders and bad ones. It sounds like you are doing it in good faith and being responsible. Heck, many brokers/dealers will buy animals and sell them the next day.
The important thing when selling someone else's stock is to use your own photo, unless you have permission to use the breeder's photo, and dont claim that you bred it. Other than that, I think you are in the clear. Even the "big breeders" sell other breeders stock from time to time (or quite often).
Hang in there.

Thanks all

I am hanging in there and I intend to keep going the same as I have been. By only offering healthy, quality dragons that are guaranteed to please

What with dozens of happy customers, one person's lies and rumors can't hurt me
