Uro toys?

Ok, so here is what I have been wondering. Mosca seems to be bored with his environment. He is spending increased time digging at the sides of his cage, which in and of itself is a sign to me that he is bored. Additionally though, is the resulting sound which is very similar to fingernails on a chalkboard! lol. So my question is this. What sort of things can I put in his living space to help amuse him? I am not really in a position to build him a new tank that would allow a dirt set up he could burrow in (plus I think I would worry so much about his burrows collapsing on him it wouldn't work), I am also not currently in a position to build him a bigger tank (his current tank is 2ft x 4ft). He has 2 caves, 1 log hide, multiple things to climb over and around (which he does). The only thing I can think of at the moment is to bury some tubing in the sand for him to "burrow" into... Any other thoughts? He is not quite tame enough for me to let him out to play yet since he is now big enough he can climb over the guinea pig fence I bought that could originally contain him.

If I can get my digital camera to connect to my computer I will post some pictures of his cage. Any ideas though?

I am attaching an image with all the same furniture, just the left side cave and "roots" have switched location now. This was taken quite a while ago so Mosca is much bigger now.

Have you thought about maybe providing him with an artificial burrow? That setup has done wonders for my uros. It has pretty much eliminated all digging (except if the sand has piled up in front of the hole).
I can't think of any real toys that worked. Maybe try leaving some juvie iggy pellets at certain places in the tank. That form of enrichement seemed to work well.

I have the same problem with my male mali . He scratches most of the day on the glass . He is in a 40 gal. tank has three hides , one a log , one a rock hide and I just recently made him a hide behind his favoret large rock with a y shaped piece of black tubing I got at the hardware store . The one end kinda points upwards a little . This has helped . I have had him for months and I handle him daily but he still scratches . He even scratches at the wall behind my couch when I have him out so I think it is just something I am going to have to live with . If you find a solution please let me know, it is making me crazy .
