What would you do if you where a unhappy customer?

What would you do if you where a unhappy customer?

I had purchased a dragon from a breeder that advertises here on KingSnake classified and am very unhappy on the outcome of the situation. When I bought the dragon from this person, the fecal that was done came back with a LARGE amount of coccidia. Here are the exact words my vet said “I have never seen so much coccidia in one animal and I have been doing this for 12 years.” My vet can also be found listed here:

http://www.herpvetconnection.com/oregon.shtml

All I wanted was reimbursement for either the cost of the animal ($75) or the cost of the vet bills ($125) which ever is the lesser of the two. It took this dragon 3 treatments of Albon to finally get the level under control. I just hated to have to do that to my little guy, as he use to run from me when I tried to pick him up for this medications.

There is now no way this will be resolved by e-mail as I have given this person every chance to make me happy. I tried to keep this private, but that is no longer an option. I have no problems posting mine, and their, e-mail’s here “word for word” in this forum, but would like to get some opinion on this matter.

At this point, all I am trying to do is warn/help new people from making the same mistake that I did. I am an unhappy customer who feels he has reason to complain.

What would you do?

Thanks...

Did you try calling them? There is a place for posting things like that and i forgot the link, lol, sorry. But email me and let me know who it is. Oh By the way I dont think a lot of people would apreciate the name being said here . people may be willing to help you in private but publicly bashing a company generally is frowned on here.

peace,
nathan

You can also go to the [bleep] and vent if you got a bad deal. People name names on that one.

was the dragon shipped to you? stress has a huge effect on coccidia levels in dragons, i also had a dragon that i brought a fecal in for and the vet said word for word " i have never seen this much coccidia in one animal, and this guy is only 15 grams!"

was the dragon otherwise healthy? im not sure what you could do here. coccidia does occur naturally in dragons in small amounts that are harmless to the animal, stresses such as shipping can increase the amounts drastically as well as moving into a new environment etc.

I actually bought the dragon from somebody at a show so there was no stress in shipping. I took the dragon right home and into his very own cage. The dragon appeared to be in very good health or I would not have bought him. Just would hate to have somebody go through this.

understood, could even be the stress of going to the show, the crowds, then home to a new place, just never know. Not saying you arent right in being disappointed, but are you sure the seller knowingly sold you an unhealthy animal, or rather an animal that was loaded up with coccidia? most dont do fecals on the babies before they sell, if he was seemingly healthy when you brought him home, even if the levels were up not sure the breeder would have even known there was a problem. I would have a problem with someone that sold me a knowingly sick animal, but if the animal appeared healthy when sold, appeared healthy to my own eyes but then had a fecal postive for parasites im uncertian if i could pin that on the breeder. Anyhow, best of luck with however it turns out, know it stinks to have a sick baby

Reiko,

Thanks for your words. I understand that things can happen fast and that breeders are not always responsible for the health of the animal. I guess I just expect people to stand up for what they sell and to try and make their customer happy instead of telling me that I am doing everything wrong. And even as to go so far as to threaten me with a lawsuit if I posted all the e-mails.

I just hope they treat their dragons better then they do their customers...

He is a nice looking dragon, but if I had it to do over again, I would not. Not only do I not want to go thought the treatments again, I would not want him to either. When I got him, he had a small bump on his back. I was told by the breeder that it was nothing, but they discounted the price anyways. I just fell for the little guy, even with the bump. I bought the dragon and knew there was a bump on him, I just did not expect the vet bill to fix what was on the inside of him is all.
Thanks for all the helpful information.

Did they give you any kind of guarentee? Most breeders say live delivery. They will make arrangements for shipping ang give you the time of arrival. It is your job to be there to get the reptile.

foxfire@icehouse Jul 30, 2003 03:38 PM

For starters...You do not wait weeks to get back to the breeder. Nor do you get to keep the dragon, and get a refund. Also an imperfection was pointed out AND you did not care and paid 1/2 price. Also, try not to wait 8 months to start threatening the breeder. That just go over so well!!
