Marking Balls?

chad-erin May 02, 2006 07:05 PM

I see beardie people do it all the time and was wondering if you could mark baby balls with a marker too? If you can mark them would you use permanent marker or a washable kind. Will it affect them in any way? Any info would help.
Thanks,
Erin

No two ball pythons have the same pattern. You can take a pic of each snake for identification or draw part of the pattern on an index card.

Don't see why not. The same sort of markers used with brearded dragons should be fine..however, these marks will have to be done each time the snake sheds..it also may be more prone to come off as the snake slithers between sheets of paper/papertowel etc. Using pattern is probably the better method of recognition, giving how different each ball is.
