To heat or not to heat

Kewl_Breeze May 02, 2006 09:06 PM

That's the question.
Greetings,

Anxiously awaiting first additions to the collection. While i am waiting i am trying to prepare myself and their environment. I need some input on heating.

I live in central Florida and I'm wondering how important is heating in this local? Average yearly temps are 84 during the day and 72 for the evenings. Relative humidity average around 90%. Keeping in mid that these are averages and it gets much Hotter in the summer and some cooler in the winter. How important will it be to heat the environment?

I am thinking of making my finished garage my herp room in FL garages stay pretty hot. However if I take a bedroom for the snakes it will stay around 75 year round with considerable less humidity.

How are you that are in Florida handling the heating situation?

Buddy

I live in CFL (Altamonte Springs) and I definitely heat my cages and control the heat via a thermostat.

Those temps you listed are outdoor averages.

Your garage may actually get too hot. It depends, you should
check the temps in your garage and plan accordingly. The temps
may be too hot at sunrise or sunset depending on where it faces...

I'm in Miami, I heat and control the temps just like everyone
else. I use heating pads & check my temps & humidity. I've got
central air on pretty low most of the time...
