Ranco, 10 deg. difference between racks?

speedingbandit May 03, 2006 01:05 AM

Ive got 2 racks, AP with back heat cable. They are both plugged into the same thermostat but the one i dont have the probe taped to is 10 deg. cooler...the one that ive set my temp by is within 2 deg. I thaought they would at least be within 3 deg. of each other when plugged into the same thermostat, right???
Thanx,,,Jason Matheson

Are the cables a different wattage?

They should be the same. Also on my adult rack the digital thermometer reads 90 when my thermostat reads 95. But when i stick the thermometer in my incubator its within 1 deg. These thermostats should hold true, however they do shut off when they reach the temp set. Its just not coinciding with my thermometer probes. And 1 thermostat should handle multiple racks. Especialy just 2.

Are the boxes the same kinds?
Is one rack close to a draft?
Do all the boxes have the same number of holes?

There's all kinds of factors that could contribute to one rack being lower than another.
Even a 1/4 inch difference in how far the box is from the heat rope.
