Mexico, Veracruz, Xalapa, grassland ID?

light olive belly (as far as I could see), and dark olive stripes (see picture).

We saw it on a dirt road and it was quite excited to see us (coiled up, ready to strike). I took a few pictures before it moved off the road into higher grass (quite fast).

ID please?

Jack got it right. It is a Western Ribbonsnake (T. proximus). They range quite far south along the coastal plain and foothills of eastern Mexico down into the grasslands of northern Tabasco.
