Cheaper place for 912T Light

snakesunlimited1 May 03, 2006 03:07 PM

I was looking through a catalog in my shop and I saw the Bayco double fluorescent light for only $24.99 through Norhterntool.com. It is item # 160938 in the search engine on the site.

They also have a LED light set of one 30 LED and one 60 LED rechargeable for $199.00. If any of you guys are crazy enough to buy that pack I would love to know how it works. They claim 12 hours on one charge for the 30 LED and 8 hours on the 60 LED. They claim a 30 LED is the same as a 40watt light and a 60 is the same as a 80watt light. The single stubby style is supposed to be like a 60watt and the double is like a 125watt.

So the 60LED rechargeable would be brighter than a Stubby while being lighter and lasting the whole night. The whole package with the case and charger is 7lbs. Come on one of you guys has to be crazy enough to buy this thing!!!

Jason,
Wayne told me you shot me an e-mail. We don't check often enough but I don't see it now. Hope it was not too important. we'll be in Texas for the new moon the end of the month, hope to see you down there.==Tom

Hey Coach,
I am going to AZ this year for the last week in July. So I won't see you in Alterna land. Gas is too high for that much driving with that few snakes. In the AZ mountains you can walk in the mornings and find stuff without killing yourself on the gas. I only have $800 set aside for gas and food for two and that won't cut it in Texas. I am trying the whole idea of bringing along the lady, I hope it works out as well for me as it does for you and Mo.

I have emailed you a few times and they were mostly "hi how you and Mo doing?", and "hows your collection/breedings going?" kind of emails. Nothing important really. Wayne gave me your numbers so I was planning on giving you a call when I had free time.

It looks like that is the 110V AC model, not the 12V DC.

It describes the plug as a "SJT cord" which is the standard US Home 3 prong plug.

I hate to bring bad news, but this is not the deal... If you did order it I would look into canceling before you are stuck with a shipping expense.

No I did not order it yet. I was waiting for feedback on it. How about those LED lights?? Anyone try those out??

I have not tried the want... but I imagine that is nice.. especially the 60 LED one.

I have a couple of high end LED flash lights that are awesome.
One is a single 5 watt luxon that uses 4 C batteries. (Part AM4C5W). The other is a conversion kit for a 4 cell mag light using 32 white LEDs (Part AM32LightConv).

The are both about equally bright, but I think I like the 32 LED one a touch more. It is a heavier flashlight, but light is noticeable whiter to me making details jump out a little more.

You can also get 1 - 1.25 watt LED headlamps that work nicely, especially paired with a good handheld light.

I would like to try out the 60 LED wand myself.... but I may budget that for next year. Check out the lights at Advanced Mart, there are some really good ones that I have not bought personally, and they tend to have good prices on the stuff. If you have a D-cell mag light, go ahead and convert it to LED this year... And the Mini Mags, you can get a kit at Wal-Mart for like $5, makes a nice little back up light.
