nucklephil May 03, 2006 03:16 PM

OKay just got my uros, from doug, The box wasnt what i supected, but other then that, the male was upside down, when I opened the bag, I thought he was dead, but then I touched him and he started freaking out, and ran all over the cage into a hide, then I took the female out, and she was calm and already flicking her tongue. for about 1 or 2 min. then she took of into another hide. I put there food in the cage, but the look healthy and big, But looks a little skinny. No pictures yet maybe later today.

Well I beleive one or both of them ate today, somee of the food was missing, then, I stuck a new dandylion in the cage when I got home and spotted my male eating it, ate half of it so far.

Sounds like you shouldn't have a hard time acclimating them. Was a bit confused from your first post if they're thin or fat.

So far, as you just got them, I'm concerned about the fact that they're both put into the same cage already. Health isn't a concern since Doug is very reputable, but you've go the move to your house and then the introduction to another uro. Both these things are very stressfull, and you've got both going on. Keep an eye on her, don't stress her out any more than you absolutely have to, and give her a bit of time.
My notes on acclimating and introducing uros but please excuse the "free site pop-ups". There's plenty of other sites out there with great ideas to get through the acclimation period.

SO AI should move the female into another cage for a while? I do have a 4x1.5x1.5

Somewhere along the thread I got lost. Did not Doug send them to you as an acclimated pair, used to each other? That has been my experience with purchases thru him in years past. And, I see nothing in your post suggesting a territorial or dominance issue.
Why would you consider seperating them?

Onlr reason jimbo I believe thats his name is because I said, I only see them male out, and when the male goes to sleep the female comes out, but today, worse thing happend I opened up my cage to get the food, and my male came running and jumped out and ran under the garage door, I opened it quickly and it was already gone, been looking all day, no luck yet, but I setup a basking light and stuck out some food for him.

I'm confused as to whats going on with your Uros. I take it from the posts that they are in the garage? Note it is really had to keep the temperatures reasonably consistent in a typical garage unless its a finished garage (fully insulated etc.). Be very careful monitoring the temperatures or you may cook them on a hot day or get them way too cold on a cool night. This is really a hard senario to make work.

As far the escaped male -- did he get outside the garage? If so you'll need to go look for him under any cover in your yard. Don't expect him to come back to the garage because he doesn't recognize it as home yet. Also don't leave the garage door open thinking he'll come back in as you'll just end up getting the female sick from the temperature fluctuations.

Lastly, was there another uro in the house that you wanted to put these in with? Call me before you do that so I can walk you through how to introduce tem to each other.
