Well I'm pretty sure we know what...

wetceal May 03, 2006 04:59 PM

these are!! One of our best normal females gave birth early this morning. We call her "Good Mom" because she's such a good mom! This is her third year producing for us and this time, she gave us a wonderful litter of Motleys and normals!

She gave birth on her 105th day POS and had 12 live, healthy babies - 5 Motleys and 7 normals, 1 still born/dead baby (a Motley), and NO slugs or deformed babies! Last year she gave us more babies but this year's babies are MUCH bigger. These things came out HUGE with no yolk left on them!

We're not sure what happened with the dead baby - whether it was still born or died shortly after birth or possibly accidentally killed. It was fully formed with no kinks or anything just dead when we found them this morning. It was a very nice looking Motley too so that is definitely a shame.

Despite the still born baby, we are thrilled with this litter, especially with the way they look! They all have nice patterns and very nice coloration too! There's one that's extremely dark and high contrast and a couple that are really RED. The normal babies are all very nice looking too.

We were anxious to see what the babies from this litter looked like and were really hoping it wasn't like Jungles LOL! The normals have nice patterns and color but nowhere close to what the "normal" babies from our weird litter looked like. The saddle shapes are different and the coloration is just not there at all. It will be interesting to compare them after they shed.

I took some group, individual, and comparison photos. The Hypo "whatchamacallits" definitely stand out against the Motleys. Take a look and let me know what you guys think...

After that last litter, it's nice to have a little certainty!

Thanks,
Celia

The Motleys

These babies have such nice pattern and color

This one is the darkest, highest contrast individual...

These two are very cool - the darkest one with the most colorful one...

The normal babies from the litter...

The still born/dead Motley...

I'm going to post the comparison shots separately so there aren't too many pictures in one post...
