Good ole' Louisiana herpin'....

daniel1983 May 03, 2006 05:43 PM

This forum seems a bit slow.....so now I will post all my field herping photos here I found the first snake of the year for me today (actually 2 but the other kingsnake was gone in a blink of an eye ).......and it was a great one. A beautiful speckled kingsnake......it gave me a very nice tail 'rattle' and everything. I saw a box turtle and a nice looking skink too.....not bad for a 30 minute walk, huh? Here are the pics:

i haven't found any snakes yet, but the turtles, skinks, anoles, etc. are definitely up and at 'em.

Thanks. Yep...It was a big un, and was kinda fiesty...ha. I have been seeing tons of box turtles, anoles, five-lined skinks, fence lizards, and just about anything else with legs....but this was the first trip that I have spotted a snake.

Let me know if you are still around North Louisiana and you want a herpin' buddy. I really need to find some nice old barns and some managable debris piles to sift through

actually i moved in january, i'm 30 miles closer to you than i was!
moved to a big ol' farmhouse on 20 acres out in the country: woods, barns, debris, ponds......
once they come out, they should be everywhere!
if you wanna try for a herping trip over here, just let me know.
