I bought an asian greenback frog from pet supermarket on 04/11. It only lived until 04/18... One week exactly. It was lethargic on the last day and then within minutes it ballooned up as much as it's little body could handle. It's jaw dropped down and tongue fell out as well. I got the frog the day it arrived at the store. The habitat was regulated at 75-78 during the day, 70-72 during the night... Humidity 60-80... Water bowl changed every day with dechlorinated water... misted daily too.
The store then ordered me a WTF and I recieved it on 4/25. It was in the same environment except the habitat was thoroughly cleaned and allowed to air dry and then rinced with water. The little guy was really active until this past Saturday, (4/29) when I discovered him lethargic as well and hemorraging on his legs. It seemed like red leg to me as the little guy looked like he was choking internally. I went back to the store and they told me to take him to the vet if he survived the night. Well, he didn't.
Now, they will not give me another frog unless I pay their cost on it. They have a 7 day guarentee on the frogs and even though they are breaking it they say it was my fault the frogs died because a few of the others that came with them lived. I have another Asian, a WTF, and 2 RETF that are all thriving and have been checked fully by a Vet. The Vet even said that she thought the frogs died of either complications from stress of shipping or it was something they had from before the store got the frogs. I sent a letter to the CEO of the company, just waiting on an answer. I just thought I would post this to see what other thoughts were and to warn.
