Well, it was getting to be that time. Tyler had informed me earlier that I should switch cages when Squig got to be about 4". I think he is that and some now!
I have been inspired (as always) by a lot of posts here, and decided to use my creative side.
I had bought a 60 gal reptarium when Pudge was sick, but I really didn't like the dimensions. It was very "rectangular" and didn't quite fit in my living room. Soooo...I decided to build my own using materials from that cage.
I bought two 20" saucers (used for under plants) and assembled them together by using a chain inside 2 of the PVC poles that came from the other cage. I drilled holes in the top for the lights and drilled holes in the planters. The planters now fit over the pole through the middle. I then tore apart the screen from the reptarium (tedious task) and sewed it back together. I then sewed velcro around the edges to attach it to the top and base. I put screen over the light so that Squig couldn't burn himself, as well as screen around it so that he couldn't climb on the ballist.
It was a ton of work, but I loved how it turned out! Squig loves it too! We did alot of "reconfiguring" while he slept (he was easy to handle then and no stress). He uses the top as his "autobaun"! The other day he did laps to catch up to the crixs!
Anyway...here are some pics. The first is the frame work with the one plant, the second of the "finished product" and the third of "Squig in the HOUSE".
