Need some help: eggs laid, what do I do?

goldbug May 04, 2006 08:45 AM

We have 3 female (apparently not!) leopard geckos.

We have a normal one, a tang/carrot and a LV Jungle Albino.

These are family pets.

We have a 40 gallon aquarium set up with rocks, log thingy to climb on & a plastic container of damp moss (to aid in shedding)

I got up this morning to set the cage up (we are leaving for a 3 day getaway) ~ and found my LV Jungle had laid 2 eggs in the bottom of the moss.

What do I do? Please help quickly!!! If anything is to be done, it will be in the next couple of hours.

thanks!

Just because eggs are laid, doesn't mean you have to hatch them. I'm unaware of leopard geckos laying without being bred, but there is always the possibility. I'd say more likely that you have a male in the group as you have guessed. If you're curious, but don't want much work, then keep the eggs as they are, and perhaps screen off the entrance to the container so the leopards don't trample them. Another moss container can be provided. If you're husbandry is ideal, and the gecko actually layed in where it'd like, and not what it had to settle for, then the eggs still may hatch.

If you're gung-ho on hatching them, better check out the leopard gecko forums for specifics about incubation temps ect.
