Question for JL_Reptiles

Nisa May 04, 2006 09:12 AM

I'm thinking about making racks like what you've made. I was wondering why use pegboard? Why not something smooth and water proof, so you don't have to worry what humidity might do to it? Just wanting to see before I get supplies. I'm planning to use it for ball pythons and corns.
Thanks for any response.

When I told Joe about this design We spoke about pegboard etc . I explained they make one available at HomeDepot / Lowes thats a HDPP 1/4" pegboard , So this is what i suggested but its pricy there also not sure what he used (type) The pegboard would give the air holes on the tops . You copuld also use shower board , FRP/ PVC etc etc thats to just close the bottom of the shelf systems off to allow a smooth surface to keep them from crawling out .

Hope this helps , the racks are very sturdy and will hold Multiple sizes by using different length legs ( you can do that by using PVC pipe i think its 1 1/4" - 1 1/2" PVC )

best of luck

I used a pegboard with the silver water proof coating on the side that's exposed to the humidity, I haven't had a problem so far, so I'm guessing it works. It's only a few bux more than the untreated stuff. Hope this helps

Thanks. I'm probably going to try making me some at some point in time soon.
