I've been using Reptomin for a long time now but I keep reading that its really not the best turtle food on the market. In your opinions, what are the best commercial turtle pellets available? Thanks!

there is nothing wrong with it. I use many varieties. Reptomin is fine as part of a varied diet. I would not feed any pelleted diet exclusively.

we also use retomin but feed crickets and goldfish at this time. Our turtles prefer live food, they wont touch any vegies or fruits I give them

theres alot more red ear sliders have to eat than commerical diet food. thats only 30% of it. they need fruit, vegetables, fish, and insects, vitamin, and calcuim supplements. they should always have fresh romaine, or green/red leafed lettuce, along with aquatic plants such as arachnis and amazon sword. there should usually be a fresh stock of minnows/guppies/killies in the tank. they love anything brightly colored. strawberries, canteloup, honey dew melons, watermelon, arpicots, carrots. then they should have a steady diet of insects such as meal worms, blood worms, crickets, wax worms, earth worms, ghost shrimp. as far as commerical diets go i use a mixture in the mornings. jurassipet aquatic turtle food, mazuri pellets, monster diet, zoo med, and exo terra. i sprinkle jurassipet JurassiVite and zoo med ReptoVite on insects before serving. http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/ is a great reference. feeding turtles is far more complicated than feeding a dog or cat. feel free to email me eastcoastrage@yahoo.com
i use zoomed aquatic turtle food, and fritz(my turtle) loves them, i feed other stuff too.
I started my RES adventure a few months ago, and since then I've tried a number of pelleted foods. Reptomin is my turtles preference by far, they barely ate until I started feeding them Reptomin. They're growing marvelously and they are both strong I highly recommend the Reptomin, especially if you vary their diet in other ways.
