New Basking Area

pinkcamel316 May 04, 2006 01:24 PM

I am looking to buy a basking area for a 10 gal tank. Preferably one that is easily cleaned (Not the Zoo Med Floating Dock). I was thinking the Kordon Turtle Ramp but I don't know what size to get. Please help. Thanks

I just ordered a medium sized Kordon ramp for a 30 gallon tank.
It hasn't come yet, I just got email this morning that said it was shipped today so... I don't know yet if it's going to work out or not.
In a 10 gallon if I were going to order one I'd buy the small size.
If you want, I'll let you know how well it works when it gets here next week.

That'd be great, thanks.

My Kordon basking ramp got here! The 30 gallon tank is not yet set up but I placed it in there to see how it'd look & the medium size really doesn't take up all that much room.
I won't be able to tell you for sure how well it works until we get this tank set up with water in it.
We just got the tank a week or so ago for a mud turtle but I didn't want him moving in until his "furniture" got here.
Now the problem is I can't get it set up until the weekend when my hubby is off work & able to help me because I can't lift the tank by myself. :-x
Once I get it all set up & he's in his new home.. I'll post again.
I think though it's going to work out just great!

Things have happened, life got in the way, we still do not have the mud turtle set up in his new home so the Kordon basking ramp is still sitting on the bar in the kitchen in the package.
When we do get around to setting this up I'll take a picture & post a report of how well or not it works.

unless you have a baby turtle that is way to small of a tank- contact if you have questions please!

I finally installed that Kordon basking ramp & made a big mistake with it.
It fits in the tank just fine, but I didn't pay attention to the width of my turtle, he can't get up the ramp to go onto the basking area of it because he is too wide.
I ended up putting it in my painted turtle's tank under the water to give him a shelf as another level to sit on under the water. He likes it fine but the mud turtle I bought it for can't use it.
