Spotted Ball Python Eggs

smpoint May 04, 2006 03:50 PM

Can someone tell me if spotted BP eggs are normal? What makes them spotted? I have searched KS and Fauna and found nothing yet. Thanks

It depends on what you mean by spotted. I sometimes get some with what appears to be small faint water marks all over them. Does not seem to affect hatch rate.

maybe that is what it is, it looks more like brown spots all over the eggs. I have candled them all and they all have tons of veins, but the eggs are quite different all around compared to all my other clutches.

if it is water marks, how do they get there?

Not sure. But on my last clutch, the slowly faded away. They are hardly noticeable. I think they may have just been moisture spots - the eggs were laid and moved within 2 hours.

well, that is comforting. I watched her lay and then moved them within 3 hours. thanks for your help, now the hurry up and wait game continues....

I have a clutch from a special girl that was due Tuesday. She's going to make me wait. Oh well... it keeps me on my toes.

Yeah, I think my wait will be a bit longer this year. I decided to incubate at 86-87. Good luck on the expected arrivals.
