I have a male bearded dragon who is almost four five years old. I just gave him a soak and after he pooped he had this string thing hanging out of his butt. I dont know what the h#% it is. It is scary, he is my baby. I also noticed the huge pores he has on his back legs when I looked under there. Is that normal?

Please help ASAP I am a very worried mom.
I lost a collard to prolapse so I am really freaking out!!

get him to a vet asap. i dont know what its called on a male but my female had a smiliar thing happen after she laid a clutch of eggs last year, the vet said she pushed her egg canal or something out of her body. she fine now and has laid many eggs since and has had no problems. i would give him a good soak in water that is distilled or boiled to kill any bacteria, of course cool it off to a temp a dragon can handle. then get him to a vet asap

It doesn't sound like a prolapse to me, but a 'string thing' makes me think of two things only. A parasite such as a tapeworm or roundworm or sperm plugs. I just don't think bearded dragons have sperm plugs like snakes do. In either case, take him to a vet and he can determine just what that 'string thing' is. Bring the poop as well, if it hasn't be disposed of already, or his next poop.

The same thing happened to my male. The string thing was sperm it was off white and hard excretion, as well at the he time actively breeding the female. The bumps on the insides of the thighs are femoral pores; larger pores are indicative of male dragons and become more pronounced as your dragon reaches adulthood. I have heard of people popping the hemipenis of dragons as you can also do in snakes....highly NOT recommended though....but in snakes you also pop for sperm plugs to see if a male is read to reproduce so I don't see why it would be different with dragons....hopefully its just sperm.
