Suffered a Loss Today

renland May 04, 2006 08:22 PM

I lost my yearling bloodred Ducky today. I'm really upset....he wasn't with me for very long but he was a great little snake. I'm also worried that whatever he died from is now affecting my friend's baby kingsnake--he's not looking too good, and we are scheduling a vet appointment for him in the hopes that he can beat whatever he contracted. Thanks for listening....I don't really know what to say.

Sorry for your loss, it sucks but it is part of this hobby.
I'm curious about your statement "I'm also worried that whatever he died from is now affecting my friend's baby kingsnake--he's not looking too good"
Did you handle your snake and then your friends kingsnake without washing your hands? Why do you think there's a relationship between your snakes death and his kingsnake not looking so good?

Thank you everyone for your condolences, they are greatly appreciated.

As for my friends kingsnake, I purchased my two corns at the same time that she purchased her snake during a local reptile expo. It was the first one that we had gone to, and we viewed many vendors and reptiles. In the constant activity of the room, neither of us thought about disinfectant. Unfortunately, this is why we think that Ducky may have contracted something from Artemis (king), because he started presenting symptoms first. I;m actually having the seller come out to my home tomorrow to take a look at him in the hopes that he can help. I have a vet visit sceduled for all of my reptiles next week. Hopefully, Artemis will recover from his illness where Ducky did not. I know that loss is in any hobby involving animals, but it still sucks.
