Ok guys need help figuring out what my chameleron's upto... She keeps going to the side of her cage(same place everytime) and digging around in the substrate, or just trying to claw through the mesh. She has a sandbox on other side of the cage and a bunch of loose soil in her planter incase she needs to lay eggs. So i watch for that. Recently she just seems to be trying to escape. Can't figure it out. Thought at first it was the cricket home i have on that side of my desk.. but it's completly out of site from her. about 4 ft away from her cage and down below the desk so she can't see it. She just hangs out in that corner trying to get through the mesh...

Anyone have any clues? She sleeps, and acts normally. She's been doing this for a week now. Look forward to any ideas!

Well it sounds like she is looking for an egg laying site. That is my best quess, because I don't know for sure what she is doing. I try to make the soil more attactive to them by putting a small Pothos plant in it. They like to lay their eggs under the rootballs of plants so something like this often helps to attractive them to the egglaying site.

if she is looking to lay you need to make her happy fast Was she bred or are these infertile? how old is she? Does she look lumpy? Have to tried moving her setup to that side of the cage? Have you tried the big container plan? I never have but I know many folks here do it successfully. Worth a try - here's the link
