Question about Jungles?

jasongonzo May 04, 2006 11:48 PM

I read this a while back on the forum and wanted to get some opinions/hypothesis on the matter. All opinions welcome.

I have heard that Jungles with more color and less aberrancies will have the crazy patterned offspring, and the Jungles with more pattern aberrancies will produce offspring with more color and less patterns. (Does that make sense?) Anyways, does anyone agree/disagree with this or have any experiences they could share? I am looking to purchase my first Jungle this season and this will play an important factor in my decision.

And if the more aberrant Jungles do have aberrant babies, are they MORE aberrant than the parents? Thanks for the input!

I do not breed jungles but have heard the opposite of what you stated in your post. However I was browsing PK website and looked at his salmon jungles recently posted. The father was a jungle and was not very aberrant but his offspring were very aberrant and looked nothing like him. This would confirm what you stated originally but I believe that with more and more breedings of the jungle line it will be more clear as to how the gene works. It could be a completely random outcome regardless of the amount of aberrancy exhibited but either of the parents. Your question is very insightful and I would like to hear more opinions.

Thank you both for the replies.

Greg, I agree with you on P.K.'s website. If you go to birthing records and look at the salmon-jungle litter born on 4/18/06 the father was not very aberrant but the babies are insane! Which is what led to me asking this question. What I would really like to find out is what people think those babies might throw when they start producing? Will they be more aberrant than the parent, or will they revert back to what the grandpappy looks like? Like you said, hopefully more will post.

AndreasE, first of all KILLER BABIES! Do you have any pics of the parents to that litter. Was the jungle parent very aberrant or more color? Thanks again for showing those awesome pics!

Thanks for all that post!

My advice, if you like striping and color spend the extra money on a striped colorful animal. I had only one jungle litter so far but they had more striping than the parents.
