Souther Painted Housing

Hello everyone! I have some questions about the 20 gl tank I have set up. Ok, I made a 20 gl tank that is prepared for 2 hatchling painteds. I was just wondering if this was way to small of if I could keep them in that until they get a little bigger (possibly 2 inches?). I am thinking about putting them in a LARGE rubbermaid about 4 ft. long, but I don't know if that's a good idea either... lol, I'm confused! Next, what should the water level be for them? I read on 2 dif. websites that it should be 3-6 inches, but that sort of worries me since they may not be too good of swimmers since they were just born. Thanks a bunch! -KatieJGirl@aol.com

baby painted turtles can swim, they dont have to learn. 6" is fine. just make sure they have a way to get out of the water. My last painted hatchling lived in 20" of water.
