So my light phase blairs is being spoiled. She's currently in a 50 gallon aquarium that isn't very pretty and she's now large enough to stretch from the bottom and push and prod at the hood. I promised her I'd upgrade her to penthouse style when I got the money. I'm an amateur owner, so she has to put up with alot of bumbles on my part.
Well, I just blew $300 and it's almost done
I stopped by our local reptile shop that just opened, and took a look. They were supposed to be shipping in some Oceanic model 70 lizard lounges but the suppliers are being horrible and apparently are breaking most of them in transit (and refusing to replace them), and at $260 a tank, that's not cheap.
I was all put out, until they mentioned they had one in the back they'd been fighting to get replaced for three months as someone had knocked it with a forklift and broken the side panel. It's literally been spidered, but the rest of the tank is pristine. Being tired of fighting with the supplier, they offered it for $100 as it stands.
I took a walk down to speedy auto glass down the street, and they're willing to fix it for $60. The vent cutout will have to be sacrificed, but would the tank would be ready by Wednesday.
I blew the rest on a brand new light hood with variable fixtures, a background, new heating pad and a couple bags of aspen shavings. Next pay check is some nice mounted thermometers, some piles of rock I'll glue together, and vines since she loves to climb.
When I get it done, I'll take pictures to show it off. I'm hoping to spruce it up for the reptile expo this summer. She's my first snake, so hopefully I don't totally embarrass myself.
As for the other tank, I'm going to cap the lid with a wood board, use it as a stand and eye it contemplatively. I saw a banana cali king that's absolutely gorgeous...
I think I'm hooked.
