shedding

sazzy925 May 05, 2006 01:04 PM

i havent had my snake for very long ( nearly 3 months) he's really great, he's a good eater and has settled really well, but one thing concerns me, when he sheds his skin, he sheds all of it except from just above his tail to the end of it! is it something is should worry about? or will he be fine in time? also, is it normal for a snake to be suicidal? i swear mine is, whenever i take him out and he's feeling active he sneakily coils him self up and springs from my hands lol, well it's probably him just being himself and my reflexes have gone up 100% since ive had him!

Usually when a snake doesnt shed all its skin its a humidity problem. so i usually spray the tank and snake down a few times while they are "blue" and i find this to help greatly. as for a suicidal snake? i thought one of mine was when he was younger...but he grew out of it....but thats all i know of suicidal snakes

You need to get that last piece of shed off, or your snake could lose the tip of its tail. Give him a good soak or use a cotton ball and some vegetable oil and peel it off gently.
