iguana toes

herplvr2004 Jul 30, 2003 04:59 PM

my igs toes were odd looking. Some are normal and some bend to the left right below the nail. Are these signs of mbd?or are they healed broken bones? I rescued him from someone who was keeping him in what looked like a 29 gallon tank feeding him iguana pellets and dried crickets. He has only grown around four inches but hes shedding again so its gonna be more. He is around 2 or 3 years old and is 20 inches snout to tail tip. Are these odd bones MBD???what can i do to treat it?

Tempest's toes were quite crooked as well, and with the increased cage space and better diet, they've straightened out alot. He's got one toe that is stiff, my vet mentioned it and says its been broken at some point. I'd say give him lots of attention, good food, and room, and wait to see how it goes. If he is willing to climb and not sensitive, and can still bend them, I'd say he's fine. Toes are notoriously difficult to do anything with in any animal. Ever broke one yourself? No splint, nothing, all you can do is wait and let it heal :P
