I found nematodes in my tank today. Just wondering, how dangerous are they to turtles? And how can I safely get rid of the gross suckers?

Thanks!

Nematodes? How have you identified them?

This is a large family of "worms" and only a few are parasitic to turtles. I would take a fresh stool sample and the worms found in the water, to the vet for diagnoses and treatment if necessary. The stool sample may need to be repeated several times to be sure there are no parasites.

In the mean time, if your turtle is happy and healthy, I wouln'dt worry to much.
