howdy...

again i come with a probably very newbie question...but here i go.

my pacman Prince is about 5-6 months old and he's always eaten well and seemed happy/healthy...even started croaking (8 am is his favorite "squeak time" - is that normal that it sounds like a squeak? i've always thought of it as his voice breaking)

once in a while he won't take the weekly pinkie and i usually just skip that week and he eats enthusiastically next week, no problem.

but he skipped last week and he appears to have come out for a brief while the following day...and ever since burrowed into his substrate and disappeared

normally when he skips a week he comes out and looks for food...but he appears to be sleeping/nesting/not coming out

i don't wanna dig him up and disturb him

could this be his hibernation thing that i hear about? or should i try and feed him and see if he responds?

when do u draw the line between hibernation and a problem?

first off, feeding your frog a pinkie mouse weekly is way to much fat in the diet. pinkies should only be fed about once a month and crickets, mealworms, earthworms, small feeder fish, waxworms, grasshoppers, etc. should makeup your frogs main diet. your frog may go into hibernation if its fat stores have built up from overfeeding pinkie mice.
