Tell me about it.
I had a an almost 6 foot cummingi male that was captive born from Germany and I hand raised it for several years until it was an adult. And it was an adult that surpasses any monitor I have ever seen-I mean bright rich yellow, tight black bands, etc. No cummingi has ever even touched how attractive and sweet this feller was.
I could pick it up and pet its head and it never bit me. I never thought I could get so attached to such a critter.
Last year it tried to reach my V. s. nuchalis in another cage and it somehow reached the top of its cage and fell and broke its hip and died months afterward - the vet misdiagnosed the xrays, but the necropsy revealed a broken hip. In any case, take good care of them and I understand what you mean as I miss that feller very much to this day and have a very hard time even mentioning it. All I know is that when they go, it aint a good feeling.

Beautiful varanids you have there. I would love to work with cumingi one of these days. Good luck with your breeding projects as well.
Dan - Are you the one selling the V. Mertensi and V. S. Nuchalis? If so, I have the V. Doreanus that you sold to John. Beautiful specimen. I live pretty close to John, and have become friends with him. What all do you keep?
My Salvadorii just give me that stink eye look. Thats about the only look I get these days. Hahahaha.
Adrian
Yea, I sold John that monitor. Well he was so thrilled to get it that I don't understand how or why he sold it to you? In any case, good luck with it and consider taking one of these Merten's off my hands as I have 2 males and need to move one of them.
Dan
I would love to if I had the $$$. I don't have that sort of money right now. Unless you can do a monthly sort of payment? Haha.. anyway, the blue tail is pretty shy. Has only taken a couple mice so far. Don't really see it out much, but I'm sure shes just getting adjusted.
Sorry to here about your loss.It is devastating to lose a animal you raise from a baby.Watching them tare each other up is upsetting when they breed.I hope you find another one some time.thanks for storie
