jurassic May 06, 2006 06:26 PM

I have been looking for them for awhile and havent found much.
Did they all get in the wrong hands and die? or what?

A lot of those crashed shortly after importation. Those who were use to imports saved most of them but I suspect that most that went into pet homes didn't make it.

I talked to the importer that brought those in a few weeks back and he indicated he will not be bringing those in again. They were misrepresented in the ads and too may people got pissed off at the big price drop at the end, so he plans on puting his efforts elseware. The last ones that came in all got dumped on the market cheap as they started to crash so the price bottomed out drastically on those.

Several dealers kept advertising them as "Blue" and "Moroccans" even after we made it clear to them they were neither! This plus the price drop killed them in the trade. I don't expect any to be imported in the next few years if at all again as they were too expensive for the importer to get and his present concerns over the market.

Ours have done well after the intial weight crash and we even ended up brumating several pairs. So are hoping at least one or two pairs might give us eggs this year. It's a nice tempered Uro so it would be nice if we can establish them in herpetoculture. I suspect new blood will be hard to come by so it's important we try to breed those currently in the country. We 've kept track of most the ones we sold and most are still doing well. These almost all went to potential breeders, so that no doubt helped.

Thanks for the info Doug, I was afraid of that answer.
You sold me a couple nice males last month and they are doing fine, but one of the females I had was very old and she is not doing well. Since I posted this I have found and bought a nice looking pair(1.1).
I will post some pics when they arrive.
I emailed you yesterday, let me know on the status.
Thanks,
Robert
