THE QUESTION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WILD CAUGHT VERSUS CAPTIVE BORN. OR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY INVOLVED. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE PERSONS EXPERIENCE BEFORE YOU MAKE THAT STATEMENT.SOME PEOPLE TRY TO BREED TORTOISES NOT KEEP THEM AS PETS AND THATS HARD TO DO WHEN THERE 4 INCH .

>>THE QUESTION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WILD CAUGHT VERSUS CAPTIVE BORN

You asked about the parasite load of wild caught Emys. The response was right on.

Emys in the wild naturally carry parasites/bacteria with no ill effects. Then they are captured, bunched, shipped, and usually re-shipped. They are dehydrated, starving, and kept under less than optimal conditions. What is normal and not threatening in the wild becomes life threatening after this process. Especially in a tortoise like a Burmese Mtn that handles stress VERY badly. These torts generally do not respond well to treatment after being imported. Simply put they are very sensitive. They take a lot of vet care, nurturing, and making sure they are kept under the absolute optimal conditions to pull them thru. It is estimated up to half of the imports do not make it through the first year. Only experienced tort keepers with a great herp vet should consider freshly imported Emys.

How about not "shouting" at the board? Posting in all caps is considered shouting.
