...that Halma merely looks to still have it's dirty wild skin on is all. I bet it sheds out and is not melanistic but far more colorful than you thought it would be. As for the other Scrub you've got there....they are called axanthic, not melanistic Moluccans and if that's a female you've got, many congrats because they are quite rare. The pic I posted is of an axanthic female we have back when she ovulated and gave us a small clutch of eggs. Good luck with them both, especially the Halma...they are incredible yet sometimes obnoxious captives for the keeper. Hopefully with the new imports over the last couple of years, things will change for the species in captivity.
Again, good luck!

thankyou for the clearification, yes I can see them being called axanthic, I only assumed because they are so black you would call them melanistic.
I have not recieved these snakes yet, they are still in Indonesia and I am in the process of working out a deal, I am told that the Mollucan is a female, but until I have it and sexed it myself I will not know. I just wanted to share.
so what happens if the Halmahera sheds and stays dark, would it be a rare find or are there many axanthic Halmahera's?
I love the pure black Tanibars! hopefully will hav myself 2 pairs soon.
